Hi Guyz, I know this is not the relevant place to ask it.. but still.. My name is Emmad, I am from Pakistan and will be visiting UAE next week for job search. I am ACCA, FRM & CFA level II passed and have almost 4.5 years of experience in the field of auditing and accounting.. Do u guys have any idea regarding the job market in UAE for FRMs and CFAs?? Or any of your useful advise that increases my chance of getting a job in UAE.. Your suggestions, advise & experiences would be highly appreciated.. David & Suzanne, my apologies for this irrelevant post.. Thanks in advance .
Hi, My advice is that you search for certain positions you aim to occupy instead of searching for a job that hires FRMs or CFAs. Go to the major rectrutment sites for GCC, fill in for email notifications, and you'll get to know about openings as they happen. CFA is highly regarded in the region, but unfortunately only few know about FRM. Good luck
Thanks Hend. The problem is that the position which i am to acquire requires a bit of experience in the relevant role and unfortunately i have only experience in auditing and accounting.. Hence, can apply for accounting and auditing roles only.. What u think? would it be fruitful for me to visit UAE or just apply online? I heard from a lot of guys and they suggested that u got to be there in UAE if u have any chance of getting an interview call.
If you have a job offer in auditing and mean to occupy it there until offered something else, then it's a good plan. Otherwise, "visiting" UAE won't help because it could be sometime until you get an interview...how do you plan to spend this time? Jobs are not around the corner in finance, not in the UAE, not anywhere else. Secure a means to live by, then work on your other aims.
Well, I would like to give you a little bit of background. I used to work over here in Pakistan in a Freight forwarding company in Accounts department and i worked there for almost 3.5 years. I left that job in the beginning of March because i was not happy with my pay and all of my seniors were way below my qualification so due to that they wanted me to leave and there was a lot of politics. I also had to attempt my CFA level II, FRM part 2 and remaining paper of ACCA. Fortunately i cleared all of them with full time study, so it turned out to be a good choice. I always wanted to work in UAE as most of the qualified Pakistanis want to.. coz of the pay and future prospects.. My plan is that i'll visit there next week and start applying online and would also visit some most of the recruitment agencies.. My 2 ACCA qualified friends went there on visit and got a job over there so i decided the same.. I decided that why not take a risk now as i am already unemployed over here in Pakistan as it would have been difficult for me if was employed. I thought that i would start by applying for auditing and accounting jobs and once i get one then i'll look for something related to my education. Most of the people do go there on visit visa and some one lucky ones get a job there and some return back to their home country.
What would u have done if u were at my place?? The thing is that the companies want the applicants to be there at UAE if they are looking for something in UAE unless the applicant is extraordinarily qualified and experience. . Coz there are so many people there on visit visa and if preference is given to the one who is currently there.
@Ehanif, No problem on the post. It's completely fine. I did move the post from "About FRM" to the "Career Opportunities" section. Thanks, Suzanne
