Exam Location Changed, on account of security concerns. Thoughts on November deferral?

New Member
My exam's location was changed due to security concerns. I appreciate GARP being proactive in these kind of matters, but now I'm faced with a dilemma. I won't be able to make the trip, so I'm forced to defer it to next November.

My original plan was as follows:

May 2015: FRM Part 1
June-August 2015: GRE Preparation
August-November 2015: FRM Part 2 Preparation
January 2016: Grad School Deadline
January-June 2016: CFA Level 2 Preparation
June-August 2016: Econ Refresher prior to grad school

My question is, should I attempt to sit for Part 1 and Part 2 during next November? Or is too much at once? I felt fairly confident about the Part 1 material. Does Part 2 material build on the skill-set of Part 1? I often work late, but I make the best of use of my allotted lunch hour to go over the material studied. Should I just focus on clearing Part 1, and post-pone my CFA Level 2 for summer of 2017?

Thanks again guys, I hope this sub-forum is appropriate to ask this question. If you read this David, I can't thank you and your team enough for your hard work. I can't imagine how you guys manage to keep a handle on everything, my experience has been positive, and the discussions between yourself and certain forum members proved to be more insightful than the sourced material.

Hi @malkadhi Thank you for your kind words :)

Can I ask which location was changed due to security?

With respect to your questions, opinions vary. The drawback, as you know, is that if you don't pass P1, then the results for P2 won't count; however, in your shoes (ie., "I felt fairly confident about the Part 1 material"), personally speaking for myself, I would sit for both because I would want to get it over with and there is some benefit due to the soft overlap between P1 and P2. If you are fairly confident of P1, P2 is natural to review now your overall odds will be very good. Just my view on it, thanks again!
