Hi @David Harper CFA FRM,

being back in the forum and just wanted to ask whether you have experience/insights with the SOA exams?

What level of difficulty are the individual exams compared to the FRM or CQF?

Would be interested to have your take on this.

Thanks!

Assuming you're talking about Actuarial exams, they are significantly more difficult than the FRM exams. They are considered to be some of the hardest professional qualification exams. That's not to say they're not worth exploring, but be prepared for very rigorous coursework and difficult exams with low pass rates. The preliminary exams - Exams P and FM - have some crossover with the FRM curriculum, but it's fully quantitative and much more in depth, including some advanced calculus. The exams are certainly achievable for those with strong mathematical backgrounds and for those that can dedicate a lot of time to the coursework.
